In a Vase on Monday-April 22 2019

I finally have something to put in a vase from my own garden after the grey winter months of nothingness. I confess that I purchase flowers from about December til April , though I use foliage from my own garden as filler. My biggest challenge is finding a suitable location with enough natural  light to get a decent photo. I'll be experimenting with that issue.

My roses are just coming into bloom, but the climber Sombreuil had lots of vase inventory since I barely pruned it this winter.

Middle left  is Cenolophium denudatum  an umbellifer whose blooms are still mostly green , but still makes a nice addition .

Also a bit of Geum 'Totally Tangerine'   assorted Hueuchera , chives and Spirea 'Ogon.'

The vase is a vintage Bauer pillow vase.

  1. Very pretty and exciting that the return of spring has given you flowers from your own garden to arrange.

  2. Beautiful, Kathy! I look forward to seeing more of your roses as the season progresses. With the exception of 'Joseph's Coat', my own paltry lot of roses have been relatively slow about making an appearance this year. Our cooler temperatures may be the reason - or perhaps I need to feed them for a change. Happy Earth Day!

    1. I have a lot less roses than I used to, but those I have are favorites . One more week and I think I'm ready to sow the Zinnia seeds- they will be my flower mainstay this summer.
