This Weeks Fave..Crassula falcata

 I love this plant..

I think it's the basic architecture that appeals to me ; and since it is not hardy here I bring it inside every winter without fail and give it a place of honor in the house where I can look at it all winter. I've had it a few years and it hasn't grown much; I repotted it in spring and added another small 2" plant that I got at the SF Garden Show. This is the first time it has bloomed, and I am ridiculously excited.

But I love the foliage most of all. Maybe that makes this a quasi Foliage Follow Up  post ???

San Marcos Growers says it is native to South Africa , and grows to 2ft tall. At the rate mine is growing by the time it hits 2 feet I'll be shuffling around the garden with my cane and a bottle of Geritol.

  1. I love love LOVE this plant! I've got two of them (one outside for the summer) and I've never known what they were, having bought them with the super helpful label of "mixed succulent" - thank you so much for a name. Now of course I'll be dreaming of a little red flower.

    1. Loree, I think I've had this for 3 years with no flower--maybe the re-pot into a bigger container this year was the secret ? I have to say I have noticed a significant reduction in the 'mixed succulent' labeling. Still, it's out there along with 'assorted Fuchsias' and 'tropical foliage'...

  2. What a handsome plant! I can understand why you love it. I've started a love affair with succulents in the last couple years and have got out of control.
