July Bloomfest 2012
No shortage of happenings this month , as the garden is full of satiated bees and hummers.
The Lilies are are beginning their peak season,, this is 'Scheherazade' an Orienpet hybrid from The Lily Garden. This is my number one go-to grower for Lilies, I can always find a spot to pop in another one .
'Legend'
'Black Beauty'
'Sorbonne'
And Dahlia season too.
One of my favorite grasses Chasmanthium latifolium.
New this year, Trifolium rubens
Trachelium
Variegated foliage kicks this Lantana up a notch.
Agastache 'Sangria' with the energetic 'Black and Blue' Salvia
Bloomfest !

Love the lilies. Before the lily beetles marched into CT I used to have more of them. Is the variegated Lantana perennial for you?
ReplyDeleteThat last shot screams Happy Bloom Day!
Sue the Lantana dies back to the ground every winter, and there have been years I thought it was done for , but it seems to keep coming back.Lantanas are marginal here and it seems to be mostly the newer hybrids that die over winter. Too bad the Twerp can't learn to eat lily beetles...
DeleteHi there from Scotland - stunning images and blooms you have here. Love the Trachelium and Trifolium rubens. Happy Bloom Day :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirl !
DeleteThe dahlia shots are especially nice. Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteI'm very attached to my Dahlias Les, and they are begging to be photographed. Happy GBBD back at ya'..
DeleteLove Sangria (the plant too!) and the beautiful last photo!

Thanks Marie, I really enjoyed your post today as well ,but I don't seem to be able to comment on some peoples Wordpress blog posts.Very annoying ! Just know I'm not snubbing you, my comments just won't post. Bah, humbug !
DeleteWow it is a bloomfest in your garden! With any luck my inherited lilies will bloom their crazy clashing hot pink just in time for your visit...
ReplyDeleteWe are ready for whatever the Danger Garden has to offer !
DeleteI wonder if Scheherazade would like zone 10. And great selection of dahlias. I tried a few new ones this year and feel most bleh about them. Looks like a great summer this year, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteI have to say Denise, lilys thrive here, and my only issue is rot from standing water in winter. Plant them deep and mulch em and you might be ok.
ReplyDeleteYour blooms are individually stunning - love "Legend' among the lilies; the golden dahlia (very exciting time ahead as I will advance order my selection later this week!) and the variegated lantana, but your last two photos are outstanding as they show such a wonderful interaction of different colours, flowers and foliage.
ReplyDeleteScrumptious - both the blooms and the photos, Kathy! - Cindy H.
ReplyDeleteYour dahlias are fabulous. Of course the lilies are too. And that last shot has tons of blooms - love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...love the lillies big time! I'm realizing I've somehow only purchased un-scented varieties until now...MUST add some scented ones :-) That wide shot at the end is breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful. Made my day better, thanks!
