Bloomday February 2014--Planet Hellebore

Winter has not been kind in many quarters of blog-dom, and though my climate is relatively mild , the persistant cold temperatures earlier in the season along with drought and a frenzy of renovation related shovel-pruning in fall has left me with  a pretty barren garden.

The Hellebores are about all I have going this month, and they started late at that . I'm enjoying them even more than usual now that they have become the solitary attraction here.

Thanks as always to Carol at May Dreams for her hostess-hood of this monthly event for garden bloggers world wide...

  1. I don't have much more than Hellebores for Bloom Day this month too. At least we have them. Next month will be even better! Happy GBBD!

  2. Your hellebores are lovely, and you have a pretty selection of colours so there is still variety.

  3. Life looks beautiful on Planet Hellebore. I haven't done any exploring on that shady planet beyond the corsican hellebore, which fortunately can take the sun.

    1. Corsican was my first , back in the day when few nurseries had them. They are cast iron.

  4. February Bloom Day is typically a bust in my corner of the world and this year is no exception. Even the Hellebores are buried under a foot or two of snow. Maybe next month...

    1. Hopefully you are in a once-in-a-decade (or longer) snow event. I'm impressed by your fortitude..

  6. I love hellebores. I grew them successfully in my former garden but they've thus far refused to bloom in my current one. I hope spring gets rolling full-bore up north soon!

  7. Very nice, not at all a bore! At least you got a little rain. We're still at 1.2" since July 1. :(

  8. Until today, hellebores were one of the few things I had going on. Today we had temps in the 70's and I came home to camellias opening.

  9. I'm enjoying all the hellebores on blogs for Bloom Day. It's been a hard winter. Happy Bloom Day. Spring is on the way.

  10. Your Hellebores are beautiful. I believe they do not grow well in hot climate as mine. Maybe some heat tolerant variety some day.

  12. While you wait for more flowers to come out you can't go wrong with Hellebores. They give you pleasure for weeks. You have some lovely ones.
